Make it in Design Summer School
The last few weeks I've been participating in the Make it in Design Summer School with Rachael Taylor. We were given two creative briefs and two creative challenges to work on over the four week course. I joined the course, because i thought it would be a nice way to push my boundaries and experiment some more with using Photoshop alongside traditional media. I enjoy taking classes whenever I can because there is always something new to learn, and I find it energizing and a great deal of fun.
For this project, the assignment was to do an image for a tote bag or journal with the theme classic font clash. I have been playing here and there with some hand lettering, so this project really appealed to me, but I initially had no idea where I was going to go with it. I spent a while just scratching about with ideas and sketches trying to find something I could grab hold of. As it goes some days, my idea came to me in my garden rather than at my desk. I was outside working in my vegetable garden, and it came to me that I wanted to do a farmer's market tote, and garden journal. Given the time i had to spend on the project, I had to choose which to work on, so I did the tote first, but I am eager to get started on the print design and garden journal.
