Fall is my favorite time of year. As a child, I always loved the excitement of going back to school, and meeting new friends. At the end of a long unstructured summer, September brings the welcome return of routine, when it is still new and exciting, rather than entrenched and tedious. I grew up in Brooklyn, where all the elementary schools are within walking distance, so we only rode a school bus for field trips. In the suburban neighborhood where I live now, many kids ride the school bus. I am continually amazed by bus drivers and in awe of the way they can safely drive a bus full of boisterous children every morning and afternoon. I often get frazzled driving my own two children to school, so hats off to all the bus drivers of the world!

I like to pick my son up from school because we have the best conversations on the way to the car. Sometimes we walk or scooter along the bike path. These are some of images of what we see.

What is your favorite season? Do you love the changing colors of fall, hot lazy days of summer, crisp cold mornings of winter or the burgeoning flowers of spring?
